Locations, bins and drop-off

Set up where stock lives, then move, put away and count it by scanning.

Set up locations

Open Settings → Locations. Build your location tree (for example warehouse → aisle → rack → bin). Use bulk create to add a whole rack of bins at once, then print location labels to stick on the shelves.

Some locations are created for you. Production Basin holds material that has been picked for work in progress: when an operator checks off a part in a work instruction, it moves from its bin to the Production Basin.

Put away

Received material is put away by scanning. Scan the items before or after the bin label — either order works — and the bin clears after each put-away so you can keep going.

Move stock

In Material Movement (or Move stock in the shop-floor app), scan the source, the parts and the destination. Location balances stay reconciled with the ledger automatically.

Spot checks

Spot checks record what was counted in a bin without overwriting stock. They are reported for review, so a miscount on the floor never silently changes your inventory.

Drop-off rules

In Settings → Locations, drop-off rules tell operators where to put finished work. When a work instruction completes, the operator is shown the suggested drop-off location.
